Abstract
A painful, blind eye, infections, often undergo the standard technique of Evisceration surgery. Evisceration surgery involves removal of the intraocular contents of the eye, the goal of the surgery is to replace the lost ocular volume with an orbital implant, to prevent risk of implant extrusion and provide an aesthetic outcome. As the extraocular muscles retain their natural position in Evisceration surgery, implant motilty improves! A pthisical eye, an eye with multiple surgeries, is contraindicated for Evisceration surgery. However, using a modified approach – the Four Petal Evisceration Technique allows us to perform this surgery in these contraindicated eye.The video describes a pthisical eye, undergoing a Four petal evisceration technique step by step in a simplified manner, allowing us to achieve all goals of a larger deep orbital implant, improved implant motility, so as to allow the prosthetic eye to better mimic the real eye movements to achieve a good cosmesis.
