Abstract
Challenges-Intumescent Cataracts are major challenge even for experienced surgeons. Visibility is an issue because of absence of red reflex,Inreased intralenticular pressure causing running of rhexis outward, fragile capsule, liquefied cortex, difficult preop nuclear hardness evaluation, weak zonules and increased risk of PCR & vitreous Loss.
. Decompressing the swollen lens with a needle. Aspirating the liquefied cortex from the eye, and performing 1) Two stage CCC 2)Making spiral rhexis. 3) Inverse T Technique and 4) Touch down technique
To conclude maintaining positive pressure in the anterior chamber, actively depressurizing the capsular bag and performing modified CCC and phaco technique are critical surgical principles, which help us to achieve success in these white intumescent cataracts.
