Abstract
Case report: A 43 year old male patient, known case of vasculitis, presented with diminution of vision in right eye for 6 months. Patient had undergone vitrectomy in right eye 6 years ago, 3 years later, he underwent cataract surgery in the same eye. YAG capsulotomy was done 1 year back in right eye. He was diagnosed to have IOL opacity and IOL exchange was performed.
Under local anesthesia, a clear corneal incision made, capsular adhesions were released, IOL was cut at haptic -optic junction and optic was mobilised into anterior chamber and explanted through corneal incision. A new hydrophobic 3piece IOL was inserted into sulcus through the corneal incision. Postoperatively patient achieved vision of 6/12
Conclusion: IOL exchange is surgically challenging procedure with high rates of complications ranging from corneal endothelial cell loss to IOL drop. Our technique is easy and safe with good outcomes.
