Abstract
Eyelid colobomas are rare congenital malformation that occur sporadically or as part of syndromes with craniofacial anomalies. Large defects require early surgical intervention aimed at protecting the ocular surface and preventing sight threatening corneal complication. Surgical reconstruction of eyelid coloboma always represents a challenge to oculoplastic surgeon. Also, in lid sharing techniques the visual axis is occluded for several weeks and requires a second stage procedure to separate the ap and this is a major concern for producing occlusion amblyopia in a young child. We describe a novel technique for management of large nasal congenital coloboma of upper eyelid which is a single stage procedure. This technique combines a horizontal tarsoconjunctival transposition flap for posterior lamella and skin graft for anterior lamella. This one-stage procedure is safe & simple with good functional & cosmetic outcome.
