Abstract
Purpose: To describe a safe , simple, tissue and time friendly approach of scleral fixation of a posteriorly dislocated foldable intra ocular lens. Methods: The patient underwent 3port pars plans vitrectomy, the posteriorly dislocated SF IOL was lifted with a forceps and brought into the anterior chamber. Two diagonally opposite 3mm x 3mm scleral flaps were made and 10-0 proline was passed through the haptic fenestrations on both sides and brought out through a clear corneal incision on a bent 26 g needle and then passed in the exact opposite fashion encircling the haptic and brought out under the scleral flap. On tying the suture on both sides the Intra ocular lens was stable and well centered. Results: The patients vision improved from uncorrected visual acuity of counting fingers vision to 6/12 snellen visual acuity in the operated eye. Conclusions: This procedure avoids a longer surgery & concurrently more tissue / corneal trauma. It results in a stable lens and a happy patient
