Abstract
The incidence, etiology and epidemiological pattern of corneal ulceration varies with patient population, geographical location, climate. Microbial evaluation of 100 corneal ulcer patients was done in Uttarakhand region, in 15% cases bacteria was isolated among these 13% were culture positive, and most common bacterial species isolated was Pseudomonas which was mostly sensitive to colistin as compared to commonly used ophthalmic eye drops in microbial keratitis. 30% cases were fungal , most common fungal species isolated was Fusarium. In our study most common causative factor was vegetative injury. So our study aims at discussing the profile and antibiotic resistance in bacterial keratitis to see the changing trend in infections and antibiotic sensitivity for empirical treatment of early microbial keratitis as we have poor referral system in our state.
