Abstract
PURPOSE: To observe the role of interim management in patients suffering with advanced infective keratitis during covid era in absence of surgical grade tissue. METHODS: Data for clinical presentation & complete ophthalmic evaluation of advanced keratitis cases were collected. Management options available & outcome in reference to eye integrity were evaluated subsequently in follow up. RESULT: Different treatment modalities other than medical management like cyanoacrylate glue & bandage contact lens, targeted antimicrobial therapy & tarsorrhaphy were used to maintain eye integrity with variable success in patients awaiting therapeutic or tectonic keratoplasty. CONCLUSION: Covid-19 pandemic has affected ophthalmology in general with negative impact on emergency keratoplasty as required for advanced keratitis cases due to lack of surgical grade tissues. However interim measures may help to maintain eye integrity for future visual rehabilitation as in our study as and when applicable.
