Abstract
Purpose:-Best vitelliform dystrophy is progressive form of macular dystrophy which begins usually in childhood but can present at adulthood too. The diagnosis is based on family history, clinical and electrophysiological findings.
Method:-A 56 year male presented with chief complaints of diminution in vision in both eyes since childhood. He was diabetic and was addicted to cigarette smoking for last 10 years.
Results:-On detailed ocular examination he was found to have nuclear sclerosis grade four in right eye and nuclear sclerosis grade two in left eye.On fundus examination distinct circular egg yolk like macular lesion was found in both the eyes. On Ocular Coherence Tomography macular thinning was observed along with choroidal neovascular membrane in both eyes.
Conclusion:- Best disease should be differentiated from other treatable causes of choroidal neovascular membrane. Cataract surgery should be planned after properly explaining the prognosis of condition.
