Abstract
We are reporting a case of basal cell carcinoma recurrence in a patient who had undergone orbital exenteration 11 years back.
A 71 years female underwent right orbital exenteration and reconstruction with partial thickness skin graft for right lower lid basal cell carcinoma involving infero-medial wall of right orbit. Tissue histopathology showed underlying soft tissue muscle bundle involvement and sparing of intra-ocular structures. After 11 years she presented with a fungating mass near the right side of the root of nose. She underwent mass excision with secondary repair with full thickness graft. Histopathology confirmed the recurrence of basal cell carcinoma with involvement of the margins of the excised tissue. Electron beam radiation therapy was advised for the same. Radiological investigations excluded metastasis to other organs.
