Abstract
PURPOSE
To report a case of a phthisis bulbi with severe mechanical ptosis due to congenital Plexiform Neurofibromatosis.
METHOD
Informant Mother.
A 4-year-old female baby presented with unable to open left eyelid since birth and swelling of left forehead since birth. A detailed ocular examination and relevant laboratory investigations were done. Oculopalsty surgeries were planned with nil visual acuity and explained:
Stage 1- Left eye enucleation with implant
Stage 2- Left eye debulking with upper lid reconstruction
Stage 3- Left tarsofrontal sling surgery.
According to plan, surgeries were performed.
RESULT
After the surgeries, disfigurement of left eye is reduced.
CONCLUSION
In this patient, though the visual outcome was nil surgeries were performed with the interest of cosmetic purpose.
