Abstract

Introduction:Posterior dislocation of intraocular lens with predisposing factors and direct trauma are seen commonly although spontaneous dislocation following indirect trauma to the eye years after initial trauma is very rare.Case report:A 65 year old female with history of trauma to the left side of the face 5 years ago experienced sudden painless loss of vision since 1 day.On examination vision in the left eye was counting fingers from 1 metre with anterior segment showing sphincter tears and iridodonesis with right eye being normal.The fundus of both eyes were normal.She had an anterior dislocation of the lens in the left eye and was planned for lens extraction with anterior vitrectomy and scleral fixated lens following which vision improved.Conclusion:Ruling out causes for delayed dislocation and follow up for risk factors such as advancing age,uveitis,myopia,dystrophies and pseudoexfoliation are necessary to help salvage and prevent further loss of vision.
