Abstract

CASE REPORT: A 35-year-old male, post covid patient presented with painless diminution of vision in the right eye with metamorphopsia and central scotoma. His best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 6/9 in the RE and 6/6 in the left eye (LE). He had decreased near and decreased contrast sensitivity vision in the right eye with normal color vision. Fifteen days prior, the patient was treated for COVID-19-related pneumonia. Intravenous and oral corticosteroids were used.

Dilated fundus examination revealed typical serous elevation of the retina in the macular area. Subretinal fluid in the perifoveal area was seen on optical coherence tomography in the right eye. On FFA, there was no leakage at the macula.

The patient was treated with anti-anxiety medication.

CONCLUSION: Even after their systemic recovery, patients with COVID-19 should be cautioned about the possibility of ocular sequelae and referred to an ophthalmologist for prompt management.
