Abstract

3100 infants were screened for retinopathy of prematurity over a period of two years. 227 infants had retinopathy of prematurity out of which 65 infants were diagnosed as severe retinopathy of prematurity and 162 as mild to moderate retinopathy of prematurity. 40 infants with both eyes zone 2 stage 3 retinopathy of prematurity were treated with laser photocoagulation and regression has been observed. 20 cases of both eyes aggressive posterior pole retinopathy of prematurity were treated with intravitreal Bevacizumab out of which 15 cases have regressing retinopathy of prematurity, 3 were lost follow up and 2 have expired. Both laser photocoagulation and intravitreal bevacizumab are effective treatment for severe retinopathy of prematurity.
