Abstract
Introduction-Immunologic corneal graft rejection represents one of the main cause for graft failure.
Method- It was a single-center prospective comparative treatment study completed in the duration of 1 years. 30 eyes of 30 patients were assigned into two different groups in a randomized manner. All patients underwent therapeutic PK by a similar method. Group A received 0.03% Tacrolimus ointment along with 1% prednisolone acetate and group-B received only 1% prednisolone acetate. All patients were followed up and undergone slit lamp examination with FS stain for epithelial defect, graft clarity, post synechiae formation, suture infiltrate, iritis at 1,3 and 6 months. Data analysis was done with appropriate statistical test (p value <0.05 was considered significant). Conclusion- The study revealed that after a mean follow-up of 6 months for each group, addition of Topical Tacrolimus had beneficial effect in getting clear graft (74%) and hence good visual acuity post operatively.
