Abstract
Purpose:1.To report frequency of FNP in post-COVID ROCM patients and its associated ocular complication.
2.Propose etiopathogenesis of FNP in such patients.
3.Emphasize importance of early diagnosis and intervention.
4.Localize site of FNP and correlate clinical localization with MRI findings.
Methodology:
Observational study carried out in cases of FNP with ROCM admitted at tertiary hospital; for 3 months. Thorough history, ocular and cranial nerve examination was done. Ocular complications were identified and depending on grade were treated medically or surgically.
Results:
10% incidence with median age 43 and M:F ratio 2.33:1. All had ocular complications. All LMN type lesion with localization beyond chorda tympani in 26 cases(86.66%) and rest involving chorda tympani (4 cases).
Conclusion:
Study shows similar incidence as earlier ones. Usual site of lesion both clinical and radiological was infratemporal fossa. Timely intervention prevented blinding sequelae and reduced morbidity.
