Abstract
Medical records of all treated retinoblastoma patients(N= 180 patients, 237 eyes)reviewed retrospectively . Results: Globe salvage in Group A,B,C was 100% , while in Group D was 59% and in Group E was 20.62%. According to TNM classification, globe salvage in T1a was 100%, 95.83% in T1b , 65.52% in T2a , 57.14% in T2b . None of the eyes were salvageable in T3a , 9.09% in T3b , 5.71% in T3c 10% in T3d and 0% in T3e . Survival noted in T4a patients was 100%and 12.82% in T4b. 88.98% survived with while 20% patients survived with N1 stage. 89.56% survived with M0, none survived with M1a and M1b. According to IRSS system, 100%survival noted with Stage 0, 96.15% with stage 1, 100% survival with Stage II, 52.38% survival with Stage IIIA, 50%with Stage IIIB and none survived with Stage IVA and IVB.
Conclusion: TNM predicts globe salvage and survival in retinoblastoma. Subcategorisation of T2b which corresponds to Group C and Group D of ICIR is needed to predict the globe salvage better.
