Abstract
AIM: To evaluate efficacy of Intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC) as a globe salvage modality in advance and refractory cases of retinoblastoma (RB). METHODS:13 RB patients have received intraarterial chemotherapy in advance and refractory cases for globe salvage. Successful Outcome is measured as globe salvage following procedure. RESULTS: 13 eyes of (2,6,5) RB patients were categorised in group C, D, E respectively. 12 eyes have received secondary IAC and one has received primary IAC. All eyes have received triple drug IAC except one. Globe salvage has achieved in 7 (53%) eyes, 2 eyes underwent enucleation and 4 patients lost to follow up on the advice of enucleation. Out of 4, 3 came later with stage 4 disease and succumbed to death. Lid swelling post IAC is the most common complication in 7 cases. CONCLUSION: Intra-arterial chemotherapy is a very effective modality of treatment for globe salvage in such refractory cases.
