Abstract
Aim-To compare morphological changes on OCT-Angiography of intravitreal inj. of Aflibercept vs Bevacizumab in neovascular ARMD. Method- Retrospective analyses of 20 eyes of 18 patients. 9 in Aflibercept gp and 11 in Bevacizumab gp. All eyes got 3 loading doses. Followup was 6 mths. Results- At preinjection tiny capillary branching with peripheral arcades at vessel termini were seen in 100% eye(9&11) in both gps. No mature trunk vessels seen. In Aflibercept gp at 3mths regression of branching capillaries in 100% and peripheral arcades in 60% eyes seen. At 6mth filamentous mature trunk vessels seen in only 50% eyes. In Bevacizumab gr at 3mth branching capillaries and peripheral arcades could still be seen in 80% eye and at 6mth filamentous mature trunk vessels causing chronic ARMD seen in 90%eyes. Conclusion- Aflibercept is more effective in suppressing growth of new active vessels as well as reducing incidence of formation of mature trunk vessels which cause chronic persistent leakage
