Abstract
Aim:Questionnaire based evaluation of dry eye in IT professionals working from home during COVID period compared to office
Method:Google form with questions on demography, computer usage, ergonomics, asthenopia, use of glasses and contact lens were mailed to IT professionals and feedback analysed
Result: 246 feedbacks obtained globally. Office work was 6-9hours and mobile use was 1-3hours with appropriate light settings.84.3% used laptops.65% used air conditioner for >8 hours/day. Most common symptom was burning sensation(31.4%) & blurring of vision(28.6%).66.7% were comfortable working from office than home and with glasses than contact lens. Most were unaware of computer vision syndrome. Common solution for eye comfort was antiglare filters for monitor screen(45%), adjustable monitor mounts(28%) and computer glasses(26.4%)
Conclusion IT professionals must be made aware of computer vision syndrome for efficiency. Ergonomics & computer settings play major role in providing eye comfort
