Abstract
Aim:To study Anterior segment manifestations in HIV/AIDS patients and its immune status correlation.
Methods:Prospective study of 40 HIV(+/-)AIDS patients during 2020-21 done. History with Ophthalmic examination of Ant Segment done and findings noted. Correlation of CD4 TCell count and ocular manifestations made. Statistical association test done and p value <0.05 considered significant. Results:35% had Anterior Segment manifestations. HZO was major presentation 7.5%,fungal keratitis 5% f/b molluscum contagiosum, VZV/HSV keratitis, ant uveitis, etc of 2.5% each. Major age group 30-39 yrs, more of females 54%. 75% patients CD4 TCell count <200 cells µL. Statistical association of ocular manifestation and CD4 Tcell count identified (p<0.05). Conclusion:Females, Age >35 years and <200 CD4 T-cell count found as independent risk factors for ocular manifestations. These patients must consult with ophthalmologist and a multidisciplinary approach to identify and treat at earliest is needed.
