introduction : retinopathy of prematurity is an iatrogenic disease affecting retina of very sick newborns

aim: to observe the prevalence of advance cases of retinopathy of prematurity along with aggressive posterior retinopathy in newborns

materials and method : all newborns referred to our centre during pandemic era were screened using indirect ophthalmoscope

result : prevalence calculated from obtained data resulted in a significant rise of advanced cases during pandemic

conclusion: we have acknowledged that Retinopathy of prematurity incidence has been decreased in past decades due to prompt referral and awareness among clinicians . as the first wave of covid 19 came the non essential services were given less importance and screening was affected at some level but remained largely ignored . during the second wave we have experienced that incidence of retinopathy of prematurity has been increased probably due to divided attention between covid 19 and pediatric health .
