Abstract
Mucormycosis is an aggressive angioinvasive fungal infection, predominantly reported in uncontrolled Diabetics,Malignancy and Immunocompromised individuals. During the second wave of Covid 19 pandemic, there was a marked surge of Mucormycosis in our Instituition, the most common form being Rhino Orbital cerebral Mucormycosis. Most of the patients presented with Stage 3a/3b ROCM with good vision & were successfully treated with no ocular complications. Few patients presented with stage 3c ROCM & stage 4 ROCM with loss of vision. We report a case series of 3 patients, who presented with severe unilateral Orbital Cellulitis & was Radiologically and Histopathologically proven as stage 4 Rhino Orbital Cerebral Mucormycosis. Though presented at an advanced stage, by our early Diagnosis and Multi Disciplinary approach like Systemic & Retrobulbar Amphotericin B, FESS. Vision was preserved in these patients with salvage of the Eye & their lives.
