Abstract
Purpose: To analyze the visual field patterns and peripapillary RNFL thickness loss on OCT in PCG eyes.
Methods: In this cross- sectional observational study 48 eyes of PCG with reliable visual fields were included. RNFL thickness was measured by using SPECTRALIS® SD-OCT were included. Similar age group of controls were recruited.
Results: Mean baseline CDR in PCG eyes 0.56±0.2. On OCT examination for RNFL there was significant focal RNFL loss in Temporal superior (p=0.003), Nasal inferior (p=0.037) and Temporal inferior (p<0.001) quadrants compared to controls. Average RNFL thickness was significantly lower (p=0.04) in PCG group (87.2 ±28μm) compared to control group (100.6 ±7μm). On intragroup RNFL OCT examination there was significant RNFL loss in all quadrants except nasal quadrant in PCG eyes with VF defect compared to PCG eyes with normal VF. Conclusion: Here we conclude that in PCG children visual field testing significantly correlated with RNFL thickness loss on OCT.
