Abstract
Traditional fundus cameras are red-saturated, which creates homogenous or washed out images, making measurement of the cup-to-disc ratio difficult. Confocal imaging is in many ways superior to conventional fundus imaging and clinical bio-microscopic examination. It works through smaller pupils, thus eliminating a critical dilatation step reducing the patients waiting time. In this session, we have presented our glaucoma clinical work flow module with cases, screened with automated non-mydriatic confocal stereoscopic imaging, highlighting the superiority of visualising 3D digital images of both fundus at one go, than a undilated bio-microscopic examination for appreciation of subtle changes in the contour of the cup, shape of the neuroretinal rim, pathway of vessels and disc haemorrhages. We have also executed a novel, cost effective visual medium by connecting the output of fundus machine through WLAN to the PC Desktop for doctor’s viewing and simultaneous visual education of patient.
