Abstract
Orbital schwannoma is a slow growing, benign tumor originating from schwann cells of optic nerve. Usually present as gradual non-pulsating proptosis with lid swelling. In late and severe cases it may present with diminished visual acuity, diplopia, extraocular movement restriction and symtoms of optic nerve compression like visual field defects , dyschromatopsia. We report an unusual case of Orbital schwannoma which presented as severe unilateral proptosis (eyeball protruding out of socket) of 15 years duration with visual acuity of light perception in a 55 year old male , where surgical intervention lead to salvaging of the eyeball, cosmetic improvement and retention of vision.
