Abstract
PACD eyes show anatomic peculiarities like decreased axial length, anterior chamber depth and thicker lens. IOL power calculation in them may be imprecise. We compared newer formulae like Barrett’s Universal II, Hill RBF and Olsen for IOL power calculation in PACD eyes with Haigis, Hoffer Q, Holladay, SRK/T and SRK/II.
It’s a prospective observational study in PACD patients undergoing an uneventful cataract surgery with foldable IOL. Biometry was performed with LenStar 900. Subjective refraction was performed postoperatively at 1 month. We analysed the median absolute error (final subjective refraction-predicted refractive error) and the number of eyes with postoperative refraction within ±0.5D of predicted.
Holladay, SRK/T, Hoffer Q, Hill RBF followed by Barrett’s Universal II formula had the least median absolute errors in that order. Holladay formula showed highest percentage of eyes within ±0.5D.
