Abstract
HSV infection should be considered for microbial keratitis without specific risk factors, with negative culture results and poor response to antimicrobials.Herpetic infections pose various challenges for both diagnosis and management. Real-time PCR is a useful method for rapid and definitive diagnosis. Hereby we present series of 3 cases which had atypical HSV presentation. 65 year male, who was on treatment for micorbial keratitis from outside presented with peripheral corneal ulcer. With the history of recurrent episodes, peripheral location of the lesion, was treated as immunological ulcer. Later on patient underwent penetrating keratoplasty, the corneal button was subjected to PCR which confirmed HSV. Second case of uneventful phaco emmulsification in a corneal scar patient led to reactivation of HSV infection after a month of cataract surgery. 60 year female who underwent penetrating keratoplasty for stromal scar and had HSV reactivation in the graft in the post operative period
