Abstract
Abstract: Cavernous hemangioma is the most common non-infiltrative neoplasm of orbit. We describe a case of a 32year old female who presented with a slowly progressive, non-axial proptosis of the left eye for 8 months. On examination, it was soft with no change in size with Valsalva maneuvre, coughing, straining or change in position. Proptosis as measured by Leudde’s exophthalmometry was 24 mm(OS) and 20 mm(OD), extraocular muscle movements were normal. CT Orbits showed a well-defined, lobulated, isodense mass lesion measuring 3.1(AP)x1.4(TR)x0.9(CC) in the supero-medial aspect of the left orbit suggestive of hemagioma while MRI orbit suggested mass effect on the Medial Rectus and the NLD. USG doppler showed increased flow in the mass. Intralesional sclerosing therapy was given to which the patient responded well with decrease in pain and swelling providing impetus to study the role of this safe and effective mode of therapy in exceptional cases.
