Abstract
A 30-year-old man was hospitalized with moderate COVID-19 infection. On the sixth day of treatment, he complained of blurred vision and colour desaturation in right eye. Fundus examination showed two pigment epithelial detachments in each eye and serous macular detachment in right eye involving fovea suggestive of central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR). While acute CSCR may have been precipitated by corticosteroid therapy, discontinuation did not result in improvement. Assessment in post-COVID OPD using DASS-21 questionnaire revealed a score of 14 (moderate anxiety). Observation, with counselling by a counselling psychologist led to resolution of his condition in three months. Cumulative effect of exogenous corticosteroids, stress of COVID-19 infection and of hospitalization should be taken into account in evaluation of such patients. Depression, anxiety and stress assessment, and counselling may be included as part of COVID care to mitigate visual complications of COVID-19 infection.
