Abstract
To investigate the association between optical coherence tomography (OCT) parameters and visual field recovery following optic chiasma decompression in sellar and para sellar tumours and to evaluate prognostic ability of OCT for predicting post operative visual outcome. Data of patients with sellar and parasellar tumours who underwent resection, between January 2017 and January 2021, was retrospectively collected. Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), OCT RNFL and GCC and visual fields (VF) at baseline,1 month and 6 month post operative visit, Mean deviation (MD), visual field index (VFI) and field defect were collected and analysed. Patients were divided into VF improvement group and non/partial improvement group. There is significant improvement in visual acuity at 1 month and 6 months in both groups (p value <0.001). Preoperative global RNFL, global GCC and nasal and temporal GCC were found to be predictive factors for VF improvement after surgery.
