Abstract
DUANE’S RETRACTION SYNDROME is a congenital form of strabismus characterized by horizontal eye movement limitation and globe retraction with palpebral fissure narrowing on adduction. It’s due to failure of innervation of lateral rectus due to hypoplastic sixth cranial nerve nucleus and anomalous innervation of lateral rectus by
the third cranial nerve. A case report of the 13-year-old male patient presented with decreased vision in both eyes ON EXAMINATION Visual acuity(UNAIDED) RE-6/18 LE-6/36p best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA) RE-6/6 LE 6/60 with LE 15 Degree esotropia and retraction of the eyeball on adduction and palpebral fissure narrowing in adduction and hypotropia on upgaze.RE -full movements in all cardinal directions. ANTERIOR SEGMENT conjunctiva- normal, cornea-clear, anterior chamber-normal depth, pupils-reacting to light, FUNDUS-BE-media clear, disc normal,CDR-0.3:1, FR-+.
