Abstract
AIMS To analyze the effect of prostaglandin analogues on central corneal thickness in glaucoma patients and its correlation with intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement. MATERIALS AND METHODS The glaucoma patients to be treated with prostaglandin analogues were thoroughly examined. The central corneal thickness was measured in the glaucoma patients before starting prostaglandins and at follow ups. IOP was measured at all visits and considering corneal thickness. Patients with any other systemic or ocular pathology were excluded. RESULTS The central corneal thickness was significantly reduced in patients who were started on prostaglandin analogues at follow ups. The central corneal thickness increased to almost its initial state after few months of stopping prostaglandins. Underestimation of IOP occurred at follow ups. CONCLUSION The results of this study show that prostaglandins significantly reduce central corneal thickness resulting in underestimation of IOP at subsequent visits.
