Abstract
A 33 years male had acute presentation of sudden, painless diminution of vision in his right eye superimposed on long term nyctalopia. The best corrected visual acuity was 20/400 in right eye (OD) and 20/20 in left eye. Fundus evaluation of bilateral eyes revealed a waxy disc pallor, arterial attenuation and mid peripheral bony spicules in addition to the sub-foveal neurosensory detachment with underlying fibrin deposition and pigment epithelial detachment in the right eye. Fundus fluorescein angiography of OD depicted pooling of dye with pin-point leakage close to fovea along with tomographic features of pachychoroid. A clinical diagnosis of central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) OD with rod-cone dystrophy (retinitis pigmentosa) was supported by electroretinographic extinguished scotopic and photopic response. Our case illustrates the rare occurrence of CSC in the setting of rod-cone dystrophy, probably the first report from India to the best of our knowledge.
