Abstract
Purpose: Migraine-related vasospasm in retina and optic nerve head could cause ischemia, RNFL and ganglion cell death. The association of macular thickness with migraine was analysed.
Method: Forty two patients with migraine were assigned a severity score using Migraine Disability Assessment (MIDAS) questionnaire, and macular thickness was measured using SD-OCT.
Result: Macular thickness at VC which was found to be significantly thinner in those with <1 year disease (9.48±0.70 µm) as compared to those having disease for 2-5 years (9.91±0.47 µm) and >5 years (9.77±0.30 µm) respectively (p=0.007).
Conclusion: Macular thickness is reduced in patients with migraine, which is directly proportional to the duration and severity of disease as per the MIDAS score grade
