Abstract
AIM OF STUDY- To study the profile of normal tension glaucoma(NTG) patients attending the Eye OPD of a tertiary care centre.
MATERIALS & METHODS- A cross sectional study awas conducted from August 2020 to July 2021 on 630 patients of age 50 and above, with family history of POAG who came or were referred for glaucoma screening. Glaucoma evaluation was done using VA, IOP & CCT measurement, fundoscopy, fundus photography, perimetry, OCT & gonioscopy. Demographic details, refractive status, past medical history of patients were recorded and analysis was done.
RESULTS- Prevalence of NTG was found to be 12.7%. Among those, 64(80%) were female, 72(90%) were of age 50 & above, 40(50%) were myopic, 56(70%) had systemic hypotension and 52(65%) had systemic diseases of vascular & CVS origin.
CONCLUSION- Though NTG may remain undetected in many, regular ocular and systemic evaluation with treatment is necessary for preventing further glaucoma progression.
