Abstract
PURPOSE- To detect & quantitify Ganglion Cell Complex(GCC) thickness loss and simultaneous measurement & mapping of RNFL thickness loss by SD-OCT in preperimetric glaucoma cases. METHOD- 20 patients diagnosed as Preperimetric glaucoma were selected. Among them 36 eyes were studied for mapping of Retinal Ganglion Cell Complex, RNFL by SD-OCT & visual field analysis by HFA. The GCC thickness map, the deviation map and the significance map were obtained in all cases. The data obtained were matched with the loss of RNFL thickness obtained by SD-OCT. RESULTS- The average GCC thickness was 84.67±7.2µ. In 31eyes(88.6%), Focal loss vol was 18.6% (p<0.5) & Global loss vol was 24.5%(p<0.5). This correlates well with average RNFL 85.12±5.6µ & loss 24.85%(p<0.5). CONCLUSION- As macular region contains over 50% of all retinal ganglion cells and as RNFL is associated with retinal ganglion cell layer; associated RNFL loss further adds to accuracy in early glaucoma diagnosis as recent advanced tool.
