Abstract
METHODS:61 patients who underwent IOL implantation following traumatic cataract extraction from January 2018 to December 2020 were retrospectively analysed.Postoperative spherical equivalent was calculated as a measure of accuracy of biometry between those undergoing IOL implantation primarily and secondarily, between eyes with IOL implanted based on same eye K reading, axial length or IOL power, versus other eye values.
RESULTS:Comparing residual spherical equivalent of less than ±1 Dioptre(D), patients with secondary implantation had better results 85.7%.Better outcomes are observed with same eye K value –75.6%, other eye axial length –77.7%, and same eye IOL power –72.1%.Spherical equivalent was more than +/-2D in 8.13% with primary IOL. CONCLUSION:Though not statistically significant, biometry is more accurate in secondary IOL implantation.Better results are obtained by considering same eye corneal power, but results are comparable if other eye axial length needs to be considered.
