Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate the outcomes of Pterygium Extended Removal (P.E.R) followed by mini-SLET for recurrent pterygium in glaucoma patients. Methods: Prospective, interventional study in patients with recurrent pterygium, who underwent P.E.R mini-SLET with a minimum 6-month follow-up. Outcome measures included recurrence rate, spherical equivalent and postoperative complications. Results: Four eyes of 4 patients (3 male and 1 female), aged 54.7 ± 17.7 years had a mean follow-up of 8.2 ± 2.0 months. All eyes (100%) had a history of 2 pterygium operations. No recurrence was noted in any patients till the last follow-up visit. No significant difference (p=0.231) was noted in pre and post op spherical equivalent. One patient developed granuloma at 1 month postop and was excised. Ocular restriction was noted in one patient in extreme right lateral gaze. Conclusion: P.E.R Mini-SLET is a novel technique with an encouraging initial result. More studies are required to substantiate the results.
