Abstract
Purpose:If we can slow the progression of myopia in children, not only we can reduce the cost of our vision care, but also save them from the devastating vision loss due to myopic retinopathy, RD and glaucoma that is associated with myopia. Methods:Undercorrected Single Vision Lens Spectacle, Traditional Bifocal Glasses, Progressive Addition Lenses,Soft Spherical &Multifocal Contact Lenses,Orthokeratology,Anti-Muscarinic Therapy(atropine 0.01%) &violet Light Exposure. Results:Gas Permeable & soft spherical contact lenses do not hold any promise in slowing down myopia progression in children.Other methods proven to be effective. Conclusion:No need to prohibit children lying down to read.Avoid steeper downward angle of gaze while reading&Short reading distance. Ortho-K lenses can be tried for myopia less than -6D. A daily dose of atropine 0.01% is an effective first-line treatment in children aged 6 to 12 years. We must encourage children for outdoor activity and the exposure to sunlight.
