Abstract
Aim: To analyze the cognitive function in normal tension glaucoma patients and compare it compared to high tension glaucoma
Materials and methods: Case control cross sectional analytical study of 28 patients with NTG and age matched controls with HTG between the ages of 45-60. All patients underwent a Montreal Cognitive assessment test and their cognition was documented. A cognitive function of < 11/22 was poor. Data pertaining to vision, IOP, CCT, Systemic comorbidities was also noted Results: All baseline characteristics in both groups were similar. The cognitive function was impaired in the NTG group as compared to the HTG group and this value was statistically significant. More patients in the NTG group had a score of <11/22. We also corelated the IOP and CCT with cognitive function and found no correlation. Conclusion: NTG patients have poorer cognition as compared to high tension glaucoma and may be associated with a risk of developing dementia in the future.
