Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate the safety of peroperative intracameral moxifloxacin and subconjunctival triamcinolone acetonide in patients undergoing phacoemulsification cataract surgery replacing conventional postoperative topical drops regime .
Methods: it’s a prospective, non randomized study, all surgeries performed by single surgeon. A total of 100 eyes were included. Peroperative intracameral injection of moxifloxacin and subconjunctival injection of triamcinolone acetonide in uneventful cataract surgery. No antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drops were prescribed post operatively. Measures of interest were to see any sign of inflammation, visual acuity and intraocular pressure (IOP) from baseline on day 1, 3, 7, 14, 28 and 42
Results : Uncorrected visual acuity greater than 6/9 was achieved in almost all of the patients at the end of 1.5 months. There was no significant difference in IOP and inflammation was seen in the period of follow up.
