Abstract
PURPOSE: To assess the OCT biomarkers in terms of visual outcome in patients of wet ARMD treated with intravitreal Aflibercept. METHOD: A retrospective case series of 52 eyes with wet ARMD attending a tertiary eye care centre in southern India, with minimum follow up of 6 months. Presence of PED, ELM and EZ, sub retinal hyper-reflective material (SRHM) and sub retinal fluid were assessed. Number of injections needed was noted. RESULTS: 52 eyes with newly diagnosed wet AMD (24 males and 28 females) were included in the study. The mean VA at presentation was 0.79 (±0.72) improving to 0.55 (±0.54) at 6 months. The mean number of injections was 2.01 (±1.30). SRHM and Distorted ELM&EZ are associated with Poor Visual acuity (<20/60) (p<0.05). Sub retinal fluid and PED are associated with better visual acuity (>20/60)(p<0.05). CONCLUSION: The presence of SRHM and distorted ELM & EZ are associated with worse VA outcomes. Sub retinal fluid and PED are associated with better visual acuity.
