Abstract

PURPOSE: To determine the various intracranial abnormalities in CAM with extensive orbital involvement

METHOD: Observational study conducted in tertiary care hospital between may 2021 to July 2021

RESULTS:39 out of 242 Covid associated ROCM patients examined had intracranial involvement. Cases were in the age group of 10 to 90 years. Of the 39 patients with intracranial involvement, 38 had orbital involvement along with involvement of paranasal sinuses. Only one case had isolated paranasal sinuses and intracranial involvement.

Amongst the 39,30.7% had isolated cavernous sinus thrombosis, 23.07% had acute infarcts, 17.98% had cerebral abscess,10.8% had meningitis, 2.5% had internal carotid artery stenosis and 16.7% had diffuse involvement.

CONCLUSION

Various intracranial abnormalities are likely to occur with extensive orbital involvement in CAM owing to the anatomical proximity & management of associated complications and reducing the morbidity and mortality that can arise thereof.
