Abstract

Aim:To study factors like history of trauma,refractive errors,the number and location of breaks, the extent of detachment, the presence or absence of PVR, affecting outcome following surgery. Materials and Methods:Prospective Observational study carried on 11 cases.Patient selection was random on surgeon preference considering inclusion and exclusion criteria.Results: Of the total patients ,36.3% patients had positive history of trauma. 18.18% patients were high myopes. 27.27% patients had bullous detachments. 63.6% patients had no PVR pre-operatively.Conclusion: The success rate was reduced to 50% in the patients with history of trauma. High myopia had no significant effect on the surgical success. 55% success rate was associated with one break as compared to 27% with 2 or >2 breaks.75% success rate was noted in patients with upto PVR B while the success rate was 66.66% in patients without preoperative PVR.These results are found parallel to those in literature.
