Abstract
Aim To present a clinical case of suspected CMV retinitis that turned to be CNVM with massive exudation
Materials & methods A 57 year old HIV positive man was referred with a diagnosis of CMV retinitis OS due to extensive subretinal exudation with hemorrhages. FFA & OCT features were consistent with features of juxtapaillary CNVM. fundus features of the right eye showed angioid streaks & the same was seen in OS as well after resolution of signs post intravitreal antivegf injections of Razumab
Results: The fundus lesions resolved well with intravitreal injections of razumab revealing multiple radiating angioid streaks in OS as well
Conclusions massive subretinal exudation mimicking CMV retinitis may be seen in cases of CNVM due to extensive angioid streaks Coincidental HIV positivity may be a red herring & must not detract from objective evaluation & management
