Abstract
OBJECTIVE
To find out the prevalence of microalbuminuria in diabetic retinopathy patients with type 2 diabetes attending the out patient department of a tertiary care hospital in eastern India and to find out the association if any between microalbuminuria and severity of diabetic retinopathy
DESIGN & METHODOLOGY:Cross sectional study on 200 type 2 diabetic patients with diabetic retinopathy. laboratory blood tests, urine albumin and Ophthalmologic examination were done. Diabetic retinopathy severity classification as per the ICDR Scales into Mild, Moderate, Severe NPDR, PDR
STATISTICAL ANALYSIS done using SPSS 20 software
RESULT AND CONCLUSION:The prevalence of microalbuminuria was found to be 36%.Among patients with mild, moderate, severe NPDR, statistically significant correlation was found between severity of retinopathy and microalbuminuria and almost similar prevalence of microalbuminuria in patients with severe NPDR and PDR with slight preponderance in severe NPDR category
