Abstract
27 year male complains of defective vision in left eye since 1 week . Patient had history of head injury 1 week back .
On examination visual acuity – RE – 6/6 , LE – 6/12 . Slit lamp examination of left showed – lid oedema and conjunctival congestion , cornea- clear and Pupil – RTL . Right was within normal limit . Fundus examination of Right was Normal . Left Eye – Media – clear , Disc & vessels – Normal, Multiple cotton wool spots seen in all 4 quadrants . superficial & deep haemorrhages near the blood vessels , FR – dull . The findings are confirmed by FFA. Patient was treated conservative with topical NSAIDS and antibiotics . Patient was reviewed after 1week . Vision was improved to 6/6 after 6 weeks of conservative management. Purtscher Retinopathy is caused by microvascular damage with occlusion & ischemia associated with severe trauma. It may associated with acute pancreatitis , vasculitis , SLE , chronic kidney failure . Management – Treatment of the underlying cause.
