Abstract
This is a case of an elderly male who presented to the ophthalmology OPD with complaints of burning sensation in both eyes for 6 months, insidious in onset and gradually progressive. On examination, visual acuity was 6/18 amd 6/12 in the right and left eyes respectively. Slit lamp examination of the right eye showed peripheral corneal thinning from 7 to 9 o’clock position with overhanging edges, stromal infiltration and clean floor. Left eye showed a similar peripheral corneal ulceration from eight to nine o’clock position. In both cases, limbal involvement was seen but no scleritis. Extensive invesigations revealed no significant findings. A diagnosis of bilateral Mooren’s ulcer was made and patient was managed conservatively with oral prednisolone, topical prednisolone acetate (1%) eye drops and cyclosporine (0.1%) eye drops. Steroids were gradually tapered. Patient reported improvement of his symptoms as well as no further worsening of clinical signs.
