Abstract
PURPOSE: To compare the fundus findings using Wide field (WF) imaging by Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscopy(SLO) imaging with fundus chartings drawn using indirect ophthalmoscopy in patients having Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment(RRD). METHODS: 27 eyes of 27 patients diagnosed as having RRD were enrolled. Patients underwent a WF imaging of the RRD. This was followed by clinical examination, documented on fundus charting and both were compared. RESULTS: 26 patients had RRD and one patient had retinoschisis. Other findings were Atrophic holes 65.38 %( N=17), Operculated tears 26.92% (N=7). All findings totally matched between both modalities. Average time taken for charting and WF imaging was 20 and 5 minutes respectively. CONCLUSION: There was a 100 percent consistency in the findings derived by the two techniques wherein the objective SLO-based wide field imaging documentation was found to be non-inferior to the traditional subjective and time consuming art of fundus charting.
