Abstract
Retinal angiomatous proliferation (RAP) is a unique neovascular manifestation that is occasionally found in progressive AMD with its own defining characteristics. In contrast to the posterior-anterior CNVM formation that typically found in wet AMD, RAP first begins in the deep or outer retinal vasculature. 75 year old male presented with chief complaint of diminution of vision in his both eyes for 3 years. BCVA in the RE was FC at 1m and in the LE was FC at 3m. Fundus examination RE- showed fibrotic lesion with intraretinal hemorrhage. LE had intraretinal hemorrhages, hard exudates, pigment epithelial detachment. SD-OCT of RE showed large elevated fibrovascular PED (FVPED), LE showed subretinal hyperreflective material , cystoid macular edema and FVPED suggestive of the retinochoroidal anastomosis. Although ICG remains the gold standard diagnostic tool, OCT has improved the precision by which neovascular AMD with RAP lesions can be diagnosed, staged, and monitored.
